Was able to get out earlier and do some cutting before my back began to tighten up. Just worked on this small diameter oak so I’m careful not to strain myself. A little before and after shot.
My back is feeling much much better. I have full range of motion again but it does feel a little tight when I work some but it’s not really holding me back now. I cut for about two hours today. Love love love cutting the “Goldilocks” wood. Straight oak, not knots, and 8”-12” in diameter.
Goldilocks wood...i like that one. Yeah anything oak bigger than 12" gets heavy fast. How was the rain down there? Washout today.
Nice job! Looks like you had some better weather than here. Overcast and snow flurries and a fire in the wood stove. Still got some stuff done though
Put in a solid 4.5 hours today and finally got these logs cut that I had hoped to have finished 2 weeks ago.
Nice work, brother. How do you pile up the rounds while waiting on the splitter? Use bucket on the loader??
If they are small (around 16” diameter or so) I just use my body. If they are bigger, I use the forks on the tractor. I basically never put the bucket on it and absolutely never for firewood.
I am feeling pretty darn good. Can’t say it’s 100% back to normal but I’m not really limited in what I can do. It did tighten up as the day went on yesterday though
Do you/have you started wearing a brace/back support of any type? I didnt like mine at first but over two years its become SOP when im lifting/bending.
Did you ever look at rock buckets? Cat's meow for firewood. Only thing I use my solid bucket for is cleaning up splitter debris.
