This was when I tapped out yesterday and I was whooped! After 5 days of the heat it caught up to me but yesterday was the worst day of the year as there was no breeze at all. Decided to hit the shore today and take it easy. Nothing like a strawberry beer before 10am

    Dewpoint of 86.:bug:Ours got into the mid 70's last week and I thought I was dying. We've had a few days of 80 & 50's dew points & that's felt good! I can't wait for 30's & 50's.

I’ve been trying to avoid this but I’m still without the tractor so today I had to start cutting from this pile. What’s exposed and near the top is mostly red maple with a little bit of gum (boo!). Underneath that is pretty much all oak. It’s hard to tell but the logs are piled about 6.5 feet tall and are anywhere from 12” to maybe 26” in diameter. They were also nice and long which would have made them real easy to move with the tractor and cut at waist height on the forks. I picked my way through it and got all the non oak cut but man that wasn’t easy and a few times it got a little scary as logs started to shift some. Tomorrow’s chore will be to have one of my helpers assist me lifting these onto my truck so I can drive them around to where they will get split. Have about 3 cords worth to move but thankfully it’s not heavy like oak.
I am hopeful the last of the parts for the tractor have come in and I will have it back by the weekend.

Thanks. Most of the pile is much lower and under control at this point.

Haha. Nobody accused me of being smart!
Loaded this into my truck by hand and moved it about 75 yards to where it sits in the picture. Was a good morning workout!

Started making deliveries a month ahead of my normal time. Moved 4 out today. Already have 25 cords ordered and I know my time will be limited come fall so I figured I best get a jump start on it. This is the first load - 1.5 cords of mixed hardwood. Customer was very happy and has me delivering to half the people on his street!

Delivery....The final step in the process, and the last time you have to handle it! Must feel good! I had three of my regulars Contact me in June for their annual orders, which was the earliest I’ve heard from customers before. 14 full cords between the three of them:bug: Probably be going hard late this month/early next month.

Honestly they would reach for their gloves right after they put their phones down then not know how to pick up a heavy log because it’s not balanced perfectly on a nice and clean, easy to grip bar. Some of the best workers I’ve had are band kids believe it or not. They aren’t the strongest but they have discipline.
