Impressive work jrider ! Some big logs for sure! What kind of saw is ur big saw that was giving u issues? Im noticing a theme in your posts that you like relatively smaller diameter rounds to work with.. seems to relate to ur productivity. I guess because I’m processing only a tiny fraction of what u do (I estimate about 3.5% tops) , I prefer the slightly larger rounds as they produce splits with a higher ratio of wood to bark. They are for sure a pain for me to move around but also, as a scrounger, I find that it’s the bigger stuff that others often leave behind.
I did finally get some chainsaw chaps, helps keep the chips out of my boots while wearing shorts. Cooler than pants and easy to take off.
My big saw is an echo 8000 - 80 cc bar. I almost always run a 24” bar but do break out the 32” if I have to. To me, time is money and even though the big ones make great looking splits, they just take longer to process.
12 to 24" is where it's at to make time splitting. Bigger & it starts sucking up way more time ime. Looking good jrider !
If it weren’t for the log lift I would disagree on logs up to 24” in diameter but that does make easy work of them
My body told me to take a break so this is about all I’m doing today. Nice little trip to a quiet beach in Brigantine - kid free!
