I have a military family who wanted delivery yesterday because the husband is going on deployment within the next week or so and he wants to get it stacked before he leaves. I had agreed to bump them up to accommodate them but the rain shut me down yesterday. I was fortunate to have an hour off in the middle of my day today so I drove home, changed clothes and drove off to my moms in my dump truck. I got this cord loaded in 13 minutes and was back to work in my clean clothes just within the hour. I can now deliver it once my work day is done. The ground was soft due to yesterday’s rain and I almost got stuck once loaded. I almost soiled my pants!
My dump truck started leaking fuel yesterday so I dropped it off at the shop last night. It has 2 tanks but the front tank hasn’t worked since I got it almost 11 years ago. Told the guy I only need one working tank so do whatever repair is the cheapest. Luck has it, the front tank was what’s leaking. They drained it and the fuel issue is resolved. BUT it had a bunch of minor issues I learned to deal with because, well the truck still ran so I gave them that list as well as check brakes. They are working on all those other issues as well as replacing drums, rotors, etc. in the back. I told them to just take care of what needs to be done as long as they have it done by Friday so I can deliver more wood. The guy is a former student of both mine and my wife so I fully trust him. The truck has been a work horse I’ve kind of neglected so I know it was time.
I got some wood out during the week and was able to deliver 11.5 cords today. I am up to 112 delivered so far this season. I am hoping to get a few out tomorrow morning before the rain shuts me down again. I’m thinking I will end up with 160-165 cords total.
Hope it lets up soon. I have to work Sunday and Monday nights. Starts raining Monday night, Tuesday and part Wednesday on my days off...
Rain ended around 3PM at my house, but then it got So warm outside I had to open all the windows in the house. I image you might have had trouble driving in the yard. We got 1.75” of rain. Good day to hang inside and watch the birds salvage their season.
This week and weekend was a very productive time. I’m up to 136 cords delivered since September 14. I was trying my best to figure what I have left and it’s looking like right around 40 more!
