We have a small bucket for the tractor. It would take forever to scoop up and fill the truck that way. I filled the truck with 2 cords of cherry in 32 minutes this afternoon...yes I timed myself. I usually have a helper loading but not today.

I'd get a BIG bucket for the tractor :D
    Yeah that's fast! :jaw:

How the heck do you do it that fast by yourself...don't you have to throw it up in and then climb in and stack it every once in a while?

Our preacher has the truck at his house for now, he will help me work on it. He has driven it a bit and it's not leaking. He thinks the input shaft bearings are probably gone. We will check all that when we pull it out. It has the 5 speed aluminum case trans in it now. We have a steel case 4 speed to drop in if it is bad. It has the 460 gas engine, pass everything but a gas station...lol...

    Thought the same thing.

It can take me that long to get motivated to go to work in the morning.

Ok, maybe not motivated, but I still go.

I only stack the back. The rest is just thrown in. And let’s say I was especially motivated to come home, dip in the pool, crack open a beer and put my feet up to catch the end of the 1 o’clock football games

That's what the DVR is for.

Still have a Steeler game to watch.
Hope it's better than last week's fiasco.

As I split I toss the wood into a mound. Most of the time it ends up like half an egg shape, but biased in one direction or another. After figuring the volume of what ever shape elipsoid it is, I multiply by 70% to get a stacked volume. I think it’s pretty close.
It would be more scientific though if I took the 6 cord in the shed and tossed it into a pile and measured that.:D

I can never DVR live sports. If I know the outcome has already happened, I’m not interested but my Iggles are on at 8:20 tonight

    I understand that statement.

Had a bit of a spoiler tonight, but still watched the game.

Game was good, but still it bummed me to know they'd lose.

That was a battle and entertaining to watch. I just wish 5:30 didn’t come so early in the morning.

Now it’s a “work day” so I can rest my body (which is tired and a little sore) so I can do it all again next weekend.

I hit the gym this morning for a light workout - a little ab work and some cardio on the elliptical ...still feeling the fatigue in my legs. It will get better as my body gets more used to that motion but one thing is for sure: I can still work like I did in my 20's BUT recovery time is certainly longer.

wow that is fast, but you had a motivating factor! (Missed the last several posts on this thread)
Have you ever counted the number of splits in one of your cords? Im around 750, but i only do half cords.
Last Summer im at the dump getting topsoil to prep my stepdaughters house for her wedding. A nice load of wood gets dumped. The guy says "I close at 3. If you come back before then you can take it" Normally its hands off for taking wood. This was at 1:30. Fastest load of dirt ive ever unloaded. Nice load of ash.

I count quite often to be honest. I will load on a counted cord and then another counted cord, drive to one house and hand unload by count the first cord, then dump the second cord by pushing a button. It saves me a lot of time in the long run and it also saves gas. I generally split mixed hardwood a little bigger and those cords come in around 625-650. Oak cords are generally 700-725.

I have Saturday and all day Sunday to deliver wood this weekend. Aiming for at least 15 cords again but not looking forward to the weather. Going to be close to 90 each day but not humid at least. Still going to kinda suck though.

Like the moving the wood, but can't like the weather. Getting tired of the heat, but not looking forward to winter.
