Its amazing the skills we possess that we take for granted until we watch someone who has never done it before. Smart move both ways jrider on teaching him and stopping him after 2 hours, especially in this heat! You are a good teacher and i wish i had mentors/teackers in my early days when i started with a chainsaw. Dad was never a good teacher (unintentional) and i learned by watching and experience.
Watching a paying attention to those who knew what they were doing is how I learned many things. Too many young people only watch their phones and don't learn how to do new things like we did.
So not being able to work, last night seemed like a good idea to tear it up in AC. Was a late night hitting the beach bars and casino. Work hard party hard! Didn’t get to sleep until 4am.
did you scrounge those Jenga blocks? Looks like good BTU wood to me! Sorry, i have firewood on the brain where ever i go. Looks like you had a good time. Hope you didnt lose the house! When life hands you lemons, make lemonade!
I only gambled with a little money. Made it last a while but gave it all to the house in the end. Did manage a few “free” beers in the process. I made a lot of lemonade last night!!
. My GF loves Mohegan Sun and wont walk away when she is ahead which of course gets me PO'd. Ill lose a 20 and thats it. Get a free drink or two of course in the process. Most times i dont even gamble. I wont go there with her anymore. Glad you had fun! How goes your recovery? How are you feeling?
Feeling much better but still shouldn’t be running a saw. I have a former student who is now 25 or 26 coming out this morning to cut some larger diameter logs with my big saw. He works maintenance for a town close by so he has enough experience to get the job done right and more importantly, safely. Between him and my one 18yo, I am getting just enough rounds cut to keep my spltters active. I have my follow up appointment with my surgeon Wednesday morning. Really hoping I get the green light!
So my guy came out yesterday and ran a tank and a half through my big saw for me but most of that was split before the day was over. I am feeling pretty good so I decided it was time I could run my small saw. So this morning, I had one of my helpers meet me and I had him move and pile up rounds while I cut. It’s amazing how much wood you can cut in a short time when you’re not moving rounds! I then had him move my small splitter and start working on the mixed hardwood pile while I used the tractor to stage more rounds. Then I went back to cutting for my mixed hardwood which all the logs in the current spot I’m working from are red maple. I only picked up a few rounds and nothing over 10” in diameter and I was able to run 4 tanks of gas through the saw. Taking the family to the shore tomorrow and will be cutting again after my Wednesday morning follow up appointment with my surgeon. Man it feels good to be useful again!
Thats great, just take it slow and (as much as you dont want to) follow doctors orders. I cut for a couple hours yesterday in full sun and just moving around was rough. Had to move rounds out of the way which was even rougher. Some big oak ones! Is there any pain/discomfort jrider ?
