I also marked some trees the gates will go on (they'll put them on) if the snowmobile association wants to use art our property for the main trail, it should block off the entrance to the rest of the property.
I brought the de-icer with me this time, it worked great. We'll find out in another day or two on how much we'll get, I won't be cutting much this winter unless it's near a trail. I'm happy with the amount of wood I processed this year, time for a break and some fun.

I see there calling for 6 - 10 inches of snow starting on Tuesday evening until Wednesday afternoon for our area.
The storm prediction center is calling for a mix on Wednesday. Still too early to know for sure. Any shift in the direction could spell rain or snow. The thing about rain is, it will freeze at night, making for dangerous travel for the holidays.
Oh man! I am going to be cutting some wood on Monday and Tuesday! Luckily I am off from work. I will need to set a good pace going and get some wood processed. Safety always comes first though. Well, caffeine, then safety.
I just put the trailer in the woods, (Out of the plowing area) hauled the big plow out of the woods an unhooked in the area we keep it, the only other job will be getting the plow for the rhino. I'll take snow over that ice.
Whatever is easy pickins! LOL Mostly White Ash. That is pretty much what is the easiest stuff to get to. But I have some standing dead White Pine that need to come down as well. A couple right in the back yard! Wifey has reminded me of them a couple of times. Ba ha ha ha ha. Now that I own the rest of the property I am walking it a little more and scoping out trees along the property lines. I believe I am going to start cutting wood just inside the property lines by maybe 30-40 feet that will become a trail parallel to the lines to make it easy to get all around the outside of the property. This will make it easy to take some of the bigger Ash that are on the property lines and keep an eye on the place as well. I am going to let anyone who comes on to the property know that I don't want them on it anymore. (I don't like people who think they can do whatever they want, even if it is on someone else's property. I have introduced one of them to the local DEC officer already!) Not looking to have anyone arrested really. Just let them know that next time I will be.
Wind gusts are farther apart and lighter. Took the grizzly out for a quick ride in my fleece jama bottoms and a carhart jacket. Hands about froze on the ride back. Nothing besides for a small sassafras and a few branches fell. I still need to bring out the large white oak rounds and hard maple rounds I have, probably a cords worth. I just need to stop picking up wood everywhere else first
Like my neighbor told me(the former owner) when you open up a new trail, other people will use it. I think making that trail is fine, get your posted signs up when you can, then all you can do is spend more time back there, that will stop some of the jerks. Check with your insurance agent, your liability for your house property should cover the land that you bought even if it's not attached to your house property. If we were putting up a building on the property I cut on then we would need a separate liability policy, check and make sure.
Thanks for info and concern, it is appreciated. The large acreage property is completely seperate from our home and property it is on. Seperate insurance policy, etc. etc. I won't bore you guys with details. But it is all set up to protect us personally. Large acreage property is now all posted.
The wind is really blowing here. Gust at 50 mph. We went out this afternoon. On the way home, we had go stop while road crews remove a big hemlock that had fallen in the road. A few miles further on the road and there were the remained of a hardwood tree that fell across the road. Just too cold to be out.
