I can guarantee not everyone in the U.K. turned their handguns in. There's probably a small army of old farmers that have them squirreled away under the floorboards, hidden within wooden beams inside barns, coated in oil within multiple plastic bags inside boxes buried underground...
Even if there's only a stockpile of old Blunderbusses and Derringers left there, that's enough to bring a smile to my face
when the hand gun ban came in. we had to take them to the police station.we had to or they would come and take them.
i would think none, if we said we lost them we would have to go though hell to prove it.its not the same as over where you are.our guns laws are not as good as yours.
When it came to instances of door to door confiscation, was there a peaceful transition of power from private citizens to The State, or did at least a few people make the government pay dearly for it?
I can’t imagine everyone here willingly turning them in. I’m sure the bulk of people would begrudgingly do so but there would be thousands that would make a last stand. It would turn into a national crisis that would have to be negotiated to come to any sort of resolution. The balance of power between the people and the government that’s supposed to serve them must be maintained.
Some states are already claiming that they will not enforce any federal laws that infringe on the rights of the people regarding the 2nd amendment
I pretty much tuned right out of politics and news lately but I caught wind of 2a sanctuary areas or whatever they’re calling them. I’m all for that. I’m sure most local law enforcement isn’t too gung ho about trying to disarm the citizens in their own communities.
I saw an article a while back that 3D printed firearms are becoming a problem in various places in Europe. Of course there's still conventional machining that can be used by a skilled (and motivated) machinist, so that's going to be hard to crack down on. The way forward as far as bagging people that are either printing them or machining the components will be to control the flow of information. Blueprints, CAD models, anything online. We're entering an age where information sharing will be able to land a person in federal prison.
Very cool! My GGGG Grandfather and my GGGGG grandfather were gunsmiths. They manufactured Kentucky style rifles and i found a handgun for sale one time, (but couldn't afford it)
