The way I see it. The wood all needs to get to the stove one way or another. I might as well bring it while I don’t have to fight the cold and snow.
My parents had concrete steps going down. No problem just tossing them in. When I built mine I poured steps also. One step a day and filling behind with fieldstone. Easy way to handmix a set of cellar stairs without dying. My sister used the wood steps. We cover hers with plywood that fit inside the door jambs. Ok but concrete is the way to go.
These steps were precast. I had wood ones at the last house they were a pain all kinds of junk would get caught behind them and they were difficult to clean.
Much easier for sure! I have a half cord bin on my enclosed porch. I have to fill it once a month. Makes it interesting when the path from the shed to the house is icy.
I've seen Bilco hatchways with removable wooden stairs in them. Remove the stairs and just dump the load of wood in the hatch.
Getting my caffeine fix. The slide will be going up soon. I need to move a few things out of the landing zone yet. Got the trailer loaded last night in the dark after cutting out some drywall to inspect a leaking mixing valve in the 2nd floor bath.
That’s enough for one day. Time to get cleaned up and take Mrs. warner out for Mexican and margaritas!
Well I didn’t complete my goal over the weekend be feel I did pretty well. Mrs Warner was big help. And the kiddos “helped” as well. I took the slide down so I could close the doors. The little bit that’s left will be carried in.
Nice job, that's a lot of work, but will certainly keep yall warm this winter. Glad y'all had good weather for it.
I would think the work would go faster if you weren't playing on the slide, what's next, playing on the swing set.
