I recently bought the Fiskar's x27 also. Splits 6 in or less diameter ash or sugar maple barely even swinging. The bigger stuff takes some effort but still works great!!
I split with regular maul for years, as I get older I was looking for something a little easier. X27 answered that call. I do not like the hooked butt handle, it wears on the left pinky pretty quick so I find myself choking up on it. Other than that I can out split my previous by 2 to 1. I started splitting in a tire screwed to a stump this year(real back saver). I have to clean the edge up often but she will handle most rounds I put up
If I’ve got some hand splitting to do I take both the maul and the X27. If the X27 doesn’t get it done, the maul usually will. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hi Folks! I just joined today and wanted to let you know that this thread (and some other reviews out there) is what swayed me toward the X27. Just picked one up the other day and looking forward to giving it a solid go-round. Thanks much!
