Can't use a chainsaw there. But I've scrounged there before

2 medium ish hackberry trees along the highway through town were taken down yesterday. I checked on the wood after work around 6:30. It was even all set off to the side knowing it would disappear.
This morning at 7:45 the pile looked like this. IMG_2057.jpeg
the picture below is why the pile looks smaller

It will be interesting to see how much is left after the weekend. It’s actually pretty nice stuff for hackberry, I wish I had time…..

Been super busy with concrete, lunch on the run if at all.
I wonder, but highly doubt that a “keeping wood” sign would work at this place

Man, that pile of "pine and other undesirables" looks sweet to me! Straight wood is a rarity for me and I'd yuck those into the back of the pickup in a heartbeat!

Spoiled for choice. Happy to see you got some other wood out of the trip.

I haven't been scrounging from the local tree pit much lately. Hit it pretty hard last year, but started taking on paying tree jobs this summer and that gave me almost more than I could manage.

I hear ya. Hard to firewood when other work takes precedence.

Cant use a saw there, didn't feel like lifting and honestly didn't want it.

Yes, I'm a wood snob and I admit it!

Nice grab. Completely forgot about stopping there today. Had a cut anyhow. Any wood and brush left on the ground gets scooped and put in dumpsters.

I ran into the maple guy at the transfer start again this morning. He told me to stop by his house and grab a load. He still has some big splits I’m going to help him with. IMG_6191.jpeg IMG_6191.jpeg IMG_6192.jpeg IMG_6195.jpeg

I think you've made a new best friend. Nice uniform lengths. Did he cut them or you?

Headed to mine shortly with some recycling. Hopefully some wood for the taking
