I bought this Mama Bear a couple years back to fix up and re-sell and knowing it had a "small" crack that I could see in the back. "Well", you've heard of opening the can of worms? They all came out of the can!!! It's actually a fairly easy fix and where the plates came together in the back was poorly welded initially then someone "tryed" to fix the initial crack and just layed boogers on top of more boogers and this was the result. So, I ground everything out and gonna drill out the ends and reweld from the center out. The nice thing about Fishers is they are plate steel and can be fixed. Soooo, after I fix it, it goes for sale! I only want what I put into it. PM me if interested. It'll be better than new in that spot and stronger. Dave
Looking Great...Save Every Fisher we can!...In my opinion: 'they' truly don't make stoves like that any more!!!
Ok, today was repair day from start to finish. It was arc/stick welded, 6011 ground three times, root fill pass, one build up pass and four cover passes. It's never gonna crack "THERE" again! One Fisher better that new and back to service. Someday... That's one of the reasons I "LOVE" these Fishers, you can't kill one unless you break/crack the door!
` Yes, I "KNOW" I got 100% penetration, "made sure"! I cooked it in with about 100 amps because it's not easy to get inside of these boxes. I'm just to fat! .
