Having trouble with pictures.
the stack on the left is just a single row. The one on the right is two rows. Pretty much a 50/50 mix of ash and hackberry. All really solid, and pretty decent lengths although not perfectly uniform, majority of it is in the 16-20” range.

 

I’m guessing it’s gonna be right around 3 cords for the total score

 

That is SWEET! Super clean too. How old is it? Got enough room at your place to stack it?

Wayne, the guy that lives there helped load, and I’m sure he will again when I go back.

 

Not sure how old it is, the guy it used to belong to has been dead for over a year. I think he died right around Memorial Day weekend a year ago. So at least a year and a half, but I’m sure it’s older than that.

yeah I gots room, although I would have liked to have enough time to get a different spot ready. But for what I figure should be around $1200 worth of wood, ya just gotta jump on it fast.

 

Whilst I was trying to figure where to put it, I thought about calling a customer from last year to see if he might wish to buy it. I’m kinda glad I didn’t because, surprisingly some of it seems like it might need more drying time. I’ll probably check a few splits this evening when I finish unloading. And that has to happen because I need the truck at work tomorrow

Nice wood and price.

So forgive my ignorance, I cut logs from out west that are all very large and straight. The branches are all too small to use as firewood. The pictures of hardwood firewood I see here all look like twisted branches. Does the large trunk not make up the majority of the firewood or is branchwood what you burn?

 

Much of Nebraska is fairly open and sparsely timbered. Especially in my immediate area and the western 2/3rds of the state. Hence most suitable firewood species trees are not forced to grow tall and straight in competition for sunlight. But rather they tend to be more sprawling. There are exceptions of course, like tightly planted shelter belts, but even then they don’t grow like telephone poles.
And then there is the hackberry tree, poster child of bumpy, knotted, crooked branches. Pain to cut, split, and stack neatly, but burns pretty well. And is one of the top 3 firewood trees in my area. This awesome score appears to be about 50% hackberry

Ive been in the same boat my friend so I can relate.

Dunno what I'd do with a score like that but I'm sure I'd figure it out. Probably call some customers to see if they could take it right away

Thinking the wood was fresh split green and stacked indoors. Nice and clean but slower drying.
