Or sometimes ash if you're quick enough. Gonna be a lot more ash in the next handful of years. Theres one that's dead in my neighbors yard, and a few that look like they're on their way out. EAB can be seen flying around from time to time. Tons of ash around here that will keep Asplundh busy
We just have to hang on until then! I hope the towns are proactive about taking down hazard ash trees, and don't wait until the bitter end, limbs falling on the road.
Mostly chestnut oak shorts, with a little red oak, and I had to grab some holly when I noticed it there, because i’ve been real curious about it. I couldn’t find anything real thick, but it might be a challenge to hand split since a pretty small branch took two whacks with the splitter.
I went back for a third load of poplar this morning, before it rained. It sure was sticky and buggy! Sorry no action shots, the homeowner was busy in the house with her kids. First pic, just getting started... Second pic, all done cutting... Third pic, you've seen it a hundred times... One round had to ride shotgun today. I don't know if I'll go back, the trunk I was cutting off goes all the way back in the woods, so there's a load, but kind of far to hike the rounds out. Plus I'm running out of room to stack.

I've mastered backing it up in a straight line, but I can't make it go where I want at an angle. Like into a parking space. The neighborhood already thinks I'm crazy, I might as well stack it on the front lawn.
Youll get there no worries. Let them think what they want, in the end its you who can put the trailer in the right place with in one go. Make a big stack as fence, would look neat i reckon.
When backing up use the mirrors and put your hand on the wheel at 6 o’clock. Then turn the wheel in the direction you want the trailer to go. Stick with the mirrors if you look back it gets confusing
This is the easiest way to learn. Practice makes perfect when it comes to trailers. Eventually it will just click, and it will be like riding a bike going forward.
I started stacking the oak separate. One red and one white. There is also a mixed two year stack of mostly Bradford with some locust. There is another third more oak in my big stack. I am getting antsy for the weather to cool off so I can start burning and do some reorganizing.
I was splitting in the humidity last night and cant wait for cooler weather to make firewood in. Looking good sir!
... That would dull your chain pretty quick. I wonder how long it would take to season, there is usually a lot of water in there.
