Yep I have two 7 draw humidors packed with them. I was a cigar hoarder for a while and addicted to online cigar deals. Many have been aging in my humidors now for over 8 years!

Agree as well, looks ashy to me. Doesn't have the green heart wood of tulip poplar, and the grain doesn't match either. Even more better wood.

X3 on the ash, great find! It will dry about as fast as poplar would. I don't get much ash, the big die- off hasn't gotten bad here yet.
I haven't been bringing anything home, just trying to split what I've got. I'm all done with oak, moving on to the mulberry now. That's a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde to split... one strike splits if the grain is straight, but if it's got a knot don't even try, just noodle it.

very kind offer Urban Woods I was kidding of course. I get a bit intimidated as well. I see the large tracts of land and i say wow that would make hoarding a lot easier!

I think the same as you. Finding room for 12-15 cords here, on 3/4 acre.

Yeah, try 60 x 100 ft, corner lot which is basically two front yards and land practically evenly distributed around house so no larger back yard to hide wood. The three year plan is the stuff of legend for me Haha!

I'm colonizing the unused space behind and next to the pool. My husband doesn't spend a lot of time outside, so there's nobody to tell me not to! Also, the backyard is very private, especially when the leaves are out. Behind the pool gets hardly any sun, and the back row up against the fence will get no sun and no wind, but it's the best solution I could come up with. I second this...I would be looking at the fence line as a place to go higher by about another foot and a half if I needed more cordage. I like the "pallet Stations"! When filled that is going to create a broad surface area where you can stack another foot or two wood on top. A little here and a little there and the extra cord wood will add up. Your stacks are so organized Midwinter that it is not unsightly, but then again I'm a bit biased being a wood hoarder myself. It must be a great feeling to look out on that property and know the story behind every rack of wood...I feel I almost do haha! Break out the wine gurl, you done did "gooder"!!!:beerbbq:

I'm 5'2". I've been making the racks 4' tall, because that's what you get when you cut an 8' 2x4 in half. The racks by the fence sit on 8" high cinder blocks. I could go a little higher, but I'm not going to be using a stepladder.
    Thanks for the kind words!

Not sure how big my PA is. 1/4 acre maybe? Sort of a comma/L shaped area. No house or shed in the way, just LOTS of wood!

Flowering cherry, thick splits, the way I like them. I ended up stacking them on top of some red oak I won’t need for a while.

Ok, I've stayed outta this thread because I'm fortunate enough to have some space & equipment to move & store larger amounts of wood. I gotta say you guys & gals really impress me with your ingenuity & diligence in hoarding. Midwinter , that backyard is a thing of beauty the way you have it laid out. My hat's off to you suburban/urban hoarders.:tip:

Thank you, we stay awake nights plotting where to put a new stack! And the hunt for wood does make life more interesting.

I found a southern boy at the dump today. IMG_20190605_24382.jpg IMG_20190605_31289.jpg
Just goes to show, there is tulip poplar in NH. I didn't take it, a little too big to wrangle and kind of soft in the middle. T.Jeff Veal?

But it splits so easy. We’ll see how fast I go through it this winter, but I highly recommend for anyone looking to fill out their first year in a three year plan. I know that’s not you Midwinter , I respect you taking a pass.
