Asplundh cut some young locusts yesterday, I got half a car load... IMG_20200304_39819.jpg
There's a little more that I'll go back for later. Also, they're working on an oak a little further down the road. Even if they're just trimming it, there will probably be some pickings. It's on city or commercial property, too, not in someone's yard.
Stashed for a splitting day... IMG_20200304_17551.jpg

That was me. There were 2 smallish logs. They chipped all the tops, of course.

Well worth getting! I think it dries faster than green.

Nothing like a zombie wood score, especially when its oak! Heartwood still seems pretty saturated, but as Midwinter said it should dry a bit quicker than green. Your hoarding posts keep getting better!

I actually like the poplar. It dries in less than a year, and catches so easy when dropped on coals in the morning. I like having a few splits as it saves me a good ten minutes easy trying to get things hot again.

A lot of southern catalpa from the dump, and a little black locust from the side of the road. IMG_20200316_21844.jpg
The catalpa must be almost dry, it's so light.

Hit the dump again today, and found some big mulberry rounds. There's more mulberry and catalpa if I care to go back... which I think I will! IMG_20200317_1553.jpg

I got all the mulberry that was gettable, plus some more catalpa. The wood had been pushed into the pile by the loader, so the log tongs helped pull it out. Going to try my luck this afternoon too. IMG_20200318_49588.jpg
