If they dump it, you will scrounge.

Third load, skinny stuff, IMG_20180228_2589.jpg got it before the loader pushed it. Someone dumped a whole white oak, didn't chip anything. Mwalsh9152, it's getting good, might want to drive the Bronco to work some day. Some tree service was dumping just as I left.

Thanks for the heads up! I dont make it o my office more than once every 2-3 weeks. I'll have to make a point to get there this weekend.

I was somewhere east of St Albans VT yesterday, and Asplundh had just been through. There was so much wood piled by the road that I wanted to cry.

I am always impressed with the way some of these cars are loaded. Makes me a proud FHC member.

Some dead cherry and some maple. I left some cherry at the dump, it was wedged in tight under the brush. I'll go back later and maybe the loader will have pushed it around. IMG_20180228_47613.jpg

Well, someone dumped a load for pine branches on to of the cherry and buried it deeper.

Midwinter I took a ride this morning after making the trash run. I didn't see a damm thing other than crap and 10,000 Xmas trees.

I did make it out at 7am and found a pretty good amount of maple, and a little of some other unidentified wood. Plenty more where it came from, but I didn't want to be that guy with the chainsaw at 7:30. I'll maybe take a half day on Tuesday and have at it with the chainsaw.

At least you found something! Maybe there will be some storm cleanup Mon/Tues at the dump, but that midweek storm in the forecast will slow things down again.

You need to borrow Mwalsh's pickup.

He doesn't have a pickup. Or a trailer. It's the cross we both have to bear. You're fine, trees just fall into your stacks.

Mine is all grunt work. Heave some in, then climb in and move it to the front. Then repeat the process.

Lots of wood at the recycling center today. Unfortunately it was Pine, box Elder, and some fat barked stuff I couldn't ID. There was also some cedar, but located deep in the pile. Guy right before me scored a nice haul of of birch and ash... I was a few minutes late.

Yeah it's all about timing. Are there many other dump scroungers? Is there a front-end loader always coming around to neaten up the pile?

They will be yard decor for awhile, until they check on the ends a bit. I might try them this fall after they bake all summer.
