With the hottest weather coming in after today, we'll pick a day this week to remove a smaller tree from the brook on Wednesday or Thursday. The ice had been taking it down the last couple of years when it finally went down before last winter.

I'll get the bar oil out of two saws and put canola oil in. I think the only other thing we'll need is a rope, the tree was on the edge of small Island just above the corner we've taken three trees out of.

So, you will be sawing partly underwater? Is that why the canola oil? New one on me.

The bar could or will be under water so instead of bar oil, I use canola in the brook. There's a private company that test the brook for the DEC every so many years, they even shock it in certain parts for brook trout. Since we've owned the land the brook runs through, they've tested it twice.

The canola oil for the brook is just something I do.

The use of canola oil is just because it's better for the environment and nothing to do with cutting underwater.

We had decided that we would work one hour at the most removing some Hemlock,Elm and a Pine. It was the first time that I can say that the Brook water wasn't cold. The worst part of this job was all the rocks but I didn't hit one on this trip so all was good.

This was the first time the Kubota had saws in the back, we took the 028 Wood Boss and the Stihl 311 which I used, I ran Canola Oil in it instead of regular bar oil.

The wife was in the Brook helping out which is always nice, we'll go after the Hemlock that's left another day. There was and still is a chit load of dirt on the Hemlock so I'll bring an extra mudder chain plus a small broom too clean off the log, today I just brushed everything off with my hand.

Hopefully we get the rain they're calling for, we'll see how high the Brook gets.

How did the birthday party go?

Went great. They had his big party on the 4th, lots of folks there. They asked us to come back over on his b-day, ate and spent a quiet afternoon with him.
