Current status of my oak piles side by side. I’ve had to tighten things up to maximize space. All Goldilocks rounds from the logs I’ve had delivered. Speaking of log deliveries, got another one this week while mom was in Florida. Finished up another pile of mixed hardwood.
I would love to have enough room for just one of those windrows. I can see you buying nothing but those Goldilocks logs in the future. SWEET to process. Ill bet the help likes them too.
I started selling short cutoffs in front of my mom’s house this past winter and it moves pretty good due to two local campgrounds. This got me thinking to start allowing some free pine to get dropped off. This little pile of logs was part of my plans this morning. After running about a tank and a half of gas through the 390, I realized it wasn’t as small as I had thought.
Some updated pictures. One is showing the status of the side by side oak piles I’m working on and the other was taken from on top of the pile of logs I had dropped off a little while ago. Picture didn’t turn out as I had hoped but you can use my truck for scale. And it’s starting to get warm and muggy out there.
I wish you would hurry up and get some wood split, won't have enough ready for 2 truck loads... Your woodyard looks excellent. Very nice job, sir...
Is everyone taking notes? Sounds like a business model that’s worked well for you Joe! Curious if your helpers make the windrows as they split or if you go back and make them with the loader. Definitely haven’t seen all your posts, but haven’t noticed an elevator in your pics before.
Holy crap It is mind boggling just looking at it I couldn’t even comprehend trying to figure out how much is there
Did a little measuring of the piles today and I think the 350 estimate is pretty close. I estimate 325-335 in my windrows. I then have 50 ibc totes full as well. Some of them are 275 amd some of them are 330 gallons. For the shorty pieces, I just toss them in loose but for the premium wood like locust, cherry, and hickory, I stack. I have moved 16 totes of cherry under cover. I also have 18 pallets of longer 20”-24” splits. And lastly I have about 7 cords stacked under cover as well. I will use that for bagging wood which I e started to do some of or for when the weather is foul and I need a dry cords that’s easy to access.
