I'm putting a cuppa coffee on it: there will be no winter here in CT 2022/2023 we'll have maybe a few days of single digits coming no sub-zero and mostly 30* from here on out. Maybe the oddball snow storm, but nothing major, and certainly not lasting more than a day or two. As long as it's 50's during the day, we'll be having fires, and that I reckon will run late into spring.
It's early still. February and March bring the biggest snow storms as a rule and last Feb. was frigid.
Best answer based on the last few winters in our area. Or as Grandpa used to say “When the days get longer the winter gets stronger”
I too remember grandpa saying that many times. It used to be that way but so far, November was worse than January here.
