I like how they tell you to get some rest in the hospital.
    Not even possible!!!

I about flipped on some loud-mouth male nurse one night about 2am. Sitting in the nurse's station telling stories like it's the middle of the day. I got up and walked out toward the station just outside my room and looked right at this goon and said in a LOUD voice "mind if I close this door?!? " then turned and slammed the door shut.
I heard him say " I guess we were being too Loud"...

I wasn't really mad...I just wanted him to get the point...the first time!
    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

Glad to have you back on the forums, hope today gets better. My advice is to try and have the tests (As much as I am not a fan of doctors), you never know what may be going on internally!! Get better soon!

Feeling better this afternoon. Still waiting to hear from our family doctor. As for the other one, I told them to not call me, I'll call them...not. I'm so disgusted with the guy I don't even want to return to get stitches out so I'll work with our family doctor to find someone else or whatever but right not I don't want to see the other doc.

In the first place, the test he wants is a long one and I barely got through it the first time. It was almost 2 hours then had to wait 30 minutes and they wanted at least one more of close to an hour. At that point I told the doctor I could not do it and he stopped it and said it would do no good to do more. It was only about 1/2 hour after that when the gall bladder ruptured. Bad times...

Then he got excited thinking there might be some leakage in the liver and freaked out. I mean he really freaked out. That is when he sent me to the other hospital and he explained what the other hospital was to do. They did none of that and were not even concerned about it. But now 5 days later he still is in the frame of mind he was when he sent me to the other hospital. Yet, they weren't and they are supposed to be the top notch specialists in this.

Another thing is my back. It is most difficult for me to lay on those boards holding still while running those tests. Yes, I can and will take pain medication but you can only knock out so much.

Personally I feel the doctor is out of line with the test and if the other doctors, who are supposed to be better did not think it necessary, then why are we still trying to go that route?

As it stands, I'll probably be looking for another doctor and if I have to return to the hospital, it is liable to be a totally different one.

Keep on the mend Dennis. There are plenty of people here that can and will help you and Judy if things need to get done. Just worry about recovering.

I recall some of those torturous test. Laying on that stone cold hard table in that ice cold room for what seems like hours is a hard way to find out what wrong with you. Do consult with a doctor you trust, not just the doctor that gives the answers you want to hear. You can expect good and bad day will lay ahead. When in doubt, call someone. Please get some rest.

Dennis some doctors are dumb... if ya got 1 ... get rid of him and replace him or her with oNE that's got common sense or you and the educated ones will not work together well... PhD means piled higher and deeper.. MD means Man I'm dumb... no offense to good Drs.. but would have lost limbs many times without the common sense of a good RN

Fighting with the Doc is a good sign. However, you need to find someone who you can work with to get well again.

    Welcome back, glad you're here.

Many times doctors like to run a lot of tests just to CYA. Good doctors are out there but you do have to do a bit of searching. Glad you are home, Dennis.

Well Dennis, based on your post, your logic sounds fine to me. Doctors, while usually well- educated and very knowledgeable, can still be putzes and like everyone else, are wrong on occasion. Beyond all of that, all service personnel in the world work for their customers, not the other way around, and you have every right and are correct in expecting 'good service' from a physician, exactly as you would from an auto mechanic, a tree service and all the rest. So your plan to continue to work with the physician you like, trust and have confidence in sounds like the best path forward, and if other doctors need to be replaced, so be it. I personally think it is always best to take a hand in one's own life rather than just nodding and doing whatever a highly educated and <theoretically> very skilled person tells you must be done. No matter how smart, educated or wonderful a physician, his / her treatment must be beneficial to the patient IMO or it is not 'the best' treatment available for that person.

Not my place to advise you but in your situation, as I understand it, I believe I would work with the GP and see what methods and people will do the best for you going forward. And it seems like you have a pretty good grip on the situation.

As always, we wish you the very best as you do move forward down this path. Clearly it will have some tough patches but again, I believe you have a great attitude in taking a hand in your own treatment as well as YOUR life, so hopefully the medical care you get will improve with some changes.

    Brian

Hey Dennis, glad to hear from you. As you might have figured out by now, we ALL care deeply about you and were deeply concerned. Thankfully, you are on the mend, and that is all that matters. There is still so much knowledge you have to share to us veteran burners and newbies. We still need your advice and words of wisdom. Keep "em" coming my friend. :salute:
