I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. It's the best round grinder still being sold IMO. I have zero experience with Silvey, as they are extremely rare out this way.

EDIT: Also, should the foot pedal system ever break, you can repair it with items commonly found in hardware stores or bike shops if you really wanted to get fancy....

I have a EFCO Bi directional sharpener with Borazon wheels. For my small shop it works well. Talked to a shop owner from Minn. that used to sharpen over a 100 chains a day and his process was too always clean the chains with a wire wheel first so the old oil did not fuel the fire while sharpening . Also he soaked the chains in tranny fluid after. My 2 cents.. That is my process now .

I bought a Silvey 300 used a couple years ago. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Closely related to the 510, but uses a smaller wheel (which is GREAT). Once the couple shops I deal with wear the wheel out on their 510's, the wheel is just small enough to fit on my grinder.

I clean chains in my media blast cabinet with crushed corn cob. A little fiddley I suppose but beats the h out of wire brushing them or playing around in the solvent tank. Badly rusted ones get the acetone /atf treatment for a day or so then work them loose

I use an old crappy Northern Tool grinder with Molemab wheels for round ground chain, and a Simington swing arm for square.
