I'm in the same boat - until I get up to around 3-4 years ahead, I'll c/s/s any time of year, whenever I get the chance. But I'd love to get to the point where my only summertime firewood activity is watching it dry, and burning it in campfires or the smoker.

What about that thread where the guy filled a pole barn with 80 cords? That would be about 25 years for me. The gas in my saw would probably turn to candle wax after that much time.

Good to hear you're mending. Any size victory is a good one, taking you where you want to go.

Anybody with a brain, good at non-verbal communication can join our sylvan-seminars. We're always learning- that's the fun part.

I should get some pix of the little chestnuts soon. They're row-on-row, and up around chest-height already. Only a fistful didn't winter out. I'm really up for some "chestnuts roasting by an open fire" someday, maybe in another 4-5 yrs.

You would not believe the size of the oaks and pines that Sandy knocked over on the main Audubon properties. Shagbarks, no challenge.
