I used to put my tools in checked luggage but they started "picking" my suitcase for inspection every. single. time. So I started shipping UPS in advance.
I used to be able to declare my camera gear for carry-on and it wouldn't go thru the scanners but not any more. Sometimes they would open the bag and look, sometimes they wouldn't. I have had to take every. single. lens out of the bag and show the TSA agent that it was a real lens. I dunno what the procedure is for film now. Open every box and Inspect every container ?
