I tell you thats what i am Hoping to turn that heart into at some point!!!! I figure it to be just something that was out of those books that you had a pair of glasses to have a natural high seeing the illusion! Anyways probably would put something on it to bring out the grain far better and see if folks look at it and try to turn away. As for the drying, I was working on a friends yard most of the summer a few years back and I was taking the wood for free so it ended up getting stacked but in a bad way. My parents had a bunch of space but the downside is I didn't have the energy after the job to split everything. Some of this pine or spruce I had was a bear to split, so many knots I felt like I had run a marathon after trying to split a round! Summer went on, I got busy on other projects and this wood sat on pallets cut but unsplit. Then the rains came earlier than I had hoped, soaking the wood to the point where the ground made it even more difficult to split it. The overhanging branches caused the water level to be high and the ground is very organic. it absorbed my swings and made that 'thud'rather than a 'crack'. Might as well have been pounding pizza dough... Definitely overworked it. I checked some of the cherry branches recently They were about as stiff as a fresh laundered towel, I could have just broken the stick in half. Grr. It was free I can't help but look at it as a learning experience. Not all of it is bad but with the amount of rain that falls on it, its like birch when it rots from the inside. At this point I think I could give it another try but this was the basis of my trial and error. Im just grabbing ideas and going forward at this point now that I have a better idea about the organization of the wood. CASE IN POINT: THIS WEBSITE IS HELPING LOADS MORE THAN OTHERS I HAVE LOOKED AT!! Im looking forward to making up for it, the wood is likely half rotten anyways but still good summer bonfire wood. Lesson learned!!!
