I bought a F-150 that has the 8200lb GVWR and the tailgate sits even a little higher that the old F-150's tailgate did! That being said, I would find it easier to climb a ladder into the back of the truck as opposed to crawling onto the tailgate and then standing up. Does anyone have any recommendations for these tailgate ladders? Found one at TSC for $50. Traxion Tailgate Ladder, 14-1/2 in. x 48 in. x 14-1/2 in. - For Life Out Here
A friend of mine has a GMC with the steps built into the side of the bumper. Now that I'm in my 50s those steps sure are handy.
A guy I worked with last summer has a truck with that feature. Nice, but the price tag is thousands higher than what I was willing to pay!
Yoops, My girlfriend had both an LVAD and then a live heart transplant, I picked her up several times from hospitalizations, I had a milk crate in the pick up bed for her, if that gives you any ideas....
Heres the crazy thing!!! Yoops has a 99lbs. My friend weighed 98lbs for most her life. Went up to almost 200 after all the years of meds, and back down to 98 since her new heart. Funny I mentioned her on 99lbs's hubby thread!!
Funny, GM tried to mock fords tailgate step, only to make their own device. Here's Ford's. Then GM tried to mock the aluminum body of the new f series with more dumb ads. The funniest thing is that GM trucks will be aluminum bodied by 2020. For your truck though, there's this.. LivingStep Tailgate Step Or this Great Day Truck N' Buddy Tailgate Step
Holy crap! I would launch myself using that thing! Might be a good idea for loading wood though-just drop in on there and watch it bounce right into the back of the truck!
Yes, I had considered something like that. While I was looking at trucks to buy, one of them had the fold down ladder and after speaking with the previous owner of the truck, he said he really liked it. And there has been more than once where the "milk crate" has slipped or shifted as I stepped onto it...
I found this while searching eatonpcat ebay link above. Traxion Tailgate Ladder Step Truck Pickup Ford F150 F250 Tundra Dodge Ram Chevy
I think it would, as long as you don't get the aluminum bodied 2015 trucks tailgate. Ford trucks didn't change too much from 2004-2014. They have the same basic chassis, despite minor body style changes.
