My son and I took the Muzzleloaders downstate to some old stomping grounds.We were looking to fill a couple doe tags for that dmu.Stayed overnight slept in one of our vans we took down.Son had one come in couldn't get a clear shot at.Didn't see any other deer couple tags not filled but still had a good time together.We were set up at oppisite edges of a corn field planted by the dnr that was along side a ridge line that went down to a river.I decided to venture down to the river bottom while walking heard a noises coming from the river.I couldn't make out sounded like small animals and birds.As I got closer, I noticed one of the eagles as I got closer there were more than one, maybe 5 or so tried thinking they were some other bird with a white head and white tails. Never thought I would see so many at one time and as close as I did.There were 2 perched in a tree not soon after they took off and were all flying above.I started to think they were feasting on something as I was leaned on a tree. After a few minutes pass I here some cracking just like a tree being felled looking around near some shelf ice noticed some movement near an uprooted tree. As I slowly got closer behind a crotch of a tree looking through the scope noticed to my amazement it was a otter rubbing its belly all over the ice, playing around, and soon after another playing about.I have always been fascinated since a young age with the otter.This was the first time ever seing one in the outdoors.What an awesome thing to see not a care in the world the acted playing like the were soon there was two more coming off the shelf ice back into the river.I watched them for about close to an hour before I remembered why I was there and relocated.The eagles must of been somewhat amazed as well or hungry.It made my day to watch them.Though we didn't see anything the rest of the trip we had a good time together and made some more memories.
Osprey? Sounds great. Spent slot of time fishing and hiking in the Manistee ND back when I lived in MI
They were prolly snatching fish from the otter when they brought them up on the ice. Eagles are craftylazysumsabeeches !
It sure was something to see more than just a couple.I dont have pics or video but I have a vision that I can go to anytime I want .
