    Technology has changed on the newer models in the last 10 years. But machining and plating technology was the same in the 70’s.

    Biggest difference in oil from 30 years ago vs today is the detergents. Using more of a good oil actually keeps carbon washed away. The saws that run lean on gas or oil are always dry inside and the exhaust is starting to get closed off with carbon

    I have a couple gallons left over from my sled. Thought the same thing, run it in the saws. I didn’t. After asking here and doing a little research I came to the opinion it’s just not worth the risk. Probably would be fine,,,,,but they are engineered differently for different applications. I’m fond of some of my saws. I’ll buy the stuff designed to run in them.
