Finally the heat and humidity that was here all last week has broken. 60 with a cool breeze. I played yesterday so today is work day. We had some rain last night so the lawn will have to wait till later. I'm getting things together to work on cutting up some logs that I got from a co worker. Maybe split some. Oh and my bud just bought his first house with a woodstove so I'd like to bring him a pickup load to start his hoard. The outboard motor on my boat needs a little tinkering. I better get moving before I can add more to the list! Burgers on the charcoal grill and a small fire in the pit will top the day off. Summer is ok when you don't have to work outside. Common fall/winter! I'd rather 3 feet of snow than 90 degrees and humid! Enjoy the beautiful day New Englanders, and everybody else too.
Yes indeed. Beautiful early August weather here in Central NE. I spent time this morning, gathering some limbs and branches from a neighbor's white oak that he had dropped a couple of months ago. As well as bringing some whit oak rounds to my splitting area. Gorgeous day out there today. More rain Monday night into Tuesday.
Cool weather in NE has us all out I the wood piles! I'm just taking a break from mine. Hoping to get a call from someone about some nice dry wood that can go right into the shed.
The cool has moved out of our area. 76 right now. Even yesterday afternoon when I was stacking some wood that sun got hot.
It's low 70's at my house, but low humidity and a nice breeze. Definitely can't work like I can in the winter though!
Didn't even reach 70 in SD yesterday! I was able to pick up a load and CSS some dead standing to replace what I brought home, don't get to CSS much in the summer!
Axe work in the summer aggrivates my sciatica just as bad as it does in the winter! Gonna have to have a double of my "nerve medicine" this evening once I'm off daddy duty.
Cool morning gave way to a warm afternoon. I'm happy with what I cut and split. The lawn got cut. Weed wacking can wait for another day, along with the outboard. The charcoal chimney is going and the beers are flowing. Enjoy what's left of the weekend folks.
Beautiful day here in the MA hinterlands, too. Wife and baby went to a bridal shower, oldest daughter had to work, so I got three full loads (truck bed) cut, split, and just finished stacking. Think I'll kick back with a couple cold ones, troll FHC, and... listen to the baby monitor! Ah, family life. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
79 degrees here, but the humidity seemed to be just as high. Got the brush from the neighbors tree cleaned up from my yard and dumped. Funny thing is that if I would have waited they had someone come to chip all of it, included the stuff from my yard. Nice to have it cleaned up until they drop the rest of the wood.
Didn't even reach 70 again in SD, has to be the coldest August on record! So went out a cut a dead standind and brought a load home. Unfortunately it wasnt as dry as I thought so I couldn't split all of it. Oh well, now I will have some splitting to do this winter right in the back yard
Sounds great having a cool August. But, September is very close now so most of us should be cooling down.
