Just stumbled across this thread. Here are a few pics from over the years. Nothing terribly current. It’s Michigan, it’s winter, and the sun won’t be making many appearances for the next couple months.
I’m down US23 southeast of Cheboygan, about 45 minutes from Mackinaw City. We run up to Mackinaw every now and again once tourist season is done. It’s a completely different town in the off season than during peak of summer.
The ground rises up to the east of us. Usually no real good sunrise pics. The colors caught my eye this morning, for about 5mins.
It takes less than 4 minutes for sunrise or sunset to deal with the horizon. Watch those colors when you can as they don't last long! There is a huge difference in what part of the eastern sky the sun and moon rise in the winter as compared to the summer months. During the winter months, the sun rises to the southern par of the eastern sky while the moon is in the northern part of the eastern sky. In the summer, they trade spots.
This was Wed morning at Myrtle Beach Thursday morning... Our friends went this morning, with thunderstorms in the area...
