Gravol can act as a mild sedative enabling you to get to sleep. Might relax you enough so the cramps won't happen.

Muscle relaxant. I don't have a doctor to give me a prescription; are there natural options that might help? I want to see a chiropractor for my neck injury; I hurt it when I took a job as a carpenter's helper around age 19. I was told to take a wall down and it fell with me holding it and it jerked my arms down and did something to my neck. This was a small operation and no insurance and at the time I didn't go see a doctor. Lately it has been really bothering me.

Topical Arnica cream may help - you may be able to find something at Walmart or CVS drug stores. This cream should help calm pain and muscle cramps - and it doesn't stink. There are also tablets containing arnica, but I'm unsure how well they work. My Chiro suggested the cream and I used it a lot between visits when I injured my shoulders.

If you can see a chiro, that would definitely help get everything back in alignment. I also got a TENS unit which I still use on occasion (and it is eligible for use of FHA/FSA funds if you have those)

I searched and I should be able to get the Arnica Cream at Walmart or Walgreens. I have been using icy hot cream but it does have a smell to it. I was going to go out today but I had a bad episode of cramps last night in my side; seems the least bit of movement set them off. I was awake most of the night. I have a TENS unit that my sister gave me for my lower back. I am afraid to use it on my side because of the cramps, I wonder if it would set them off or prevent them?

If you use the mildest setting, and use the little pulses (the "Acupuncture" setting), you should be okay. You may not even feel it - just let it go for 30 minutes or more. I would actually keep it on your back, toward the side, but not on the side - if that makes sense.
