Me, too. Now that's what I'm talk'n about. That's got some character. What is that? ...oh, it's a guitar. Very cool.
Saved the old cutting board. Just couldn't toss it after 40yrs of service. The center of the board was worn down to 5/16" from the 3/4" when it was built. Exposed a couple of the dowels used to joint it when it was built. Left all the knife marks from all those years. Should be able to enjoy it for another 40.
...so, a year ago, I threw together a portable router table. It clamps to my bench. Thought it would be handy to use once in a while. ....well, turns out to be real handy and I use it a lot. I was using it so much, I was getting tired of clamping, and putting away. Looking for a place to put it in the shop.....occurred to me that one is the loneliest number. ....so, I created another flip top cabinet. And as we all know, you can double your pleasure, double your fun....and it is two....two mints in one. Created a permanent router stand. Now, I can just flip my oscillating sander and router away. 4 major tools in 8 sq/ft. There is no metal in the construction of this table. This top is still portable. It is mounted to the stands w/tapered dowels, so can be removed. Can be moved to the garage/yard and mounted on workmate for really big material.
This was in a 38” diameter oak, approximately 8” deep from the bark. Where this tree was I can remember a farm in that area when I was a kid. My guess is old barb wire.
