We've been burning a buffet, white oak, ash, a few splits of black birch from PA, oak and sweet gum limb rounds, holly and hickory chunks.
I think this load was ash and white oak splits, maybe 1 piece of BL and hickory chunks in the front 20260125_222613.jpg
On our coldest night, we had a couple white oak and BL splits in back, then dug into the special drum and got out some 3.5 yr old hedge chunks. Hickory, hedge and white oak chunks in front 20260126_214912.jpg

I rather enjoy seeing these posts! Hard to stuff our insert full, the guy running the chainsaw forgot to measure the depth of the firebox. Max length is 20” e/w but burns 100x better at 12” n/s.

Thanks, mostly this is just cutoffs and chunks, but sometimes when logs are crooked or very knotty, we will cut 11-12" for N/S loading.

I’ve been cutting about 12” for ns in our insert. Burns so much better. If we build and get new stoves I’ll make sure they can take 18-20” ns. I really miss my Englander 30NC.
