Supposed to be 4 inches tonight followed by rain then turning cold again. Gonna be problems if they don't clean this up before then. I know I won't get home in time to clear my driveway do that's probably gonna be iced in
Still a state of emergency. Which means no stores allowed to be open and no one on the roads. Slow going.
WOW... some pix!!! At least the community is rallying around each other and making the best of it. Times like this not only can highlight tradgedy, but can bring out the best in folks as well. Teamwork and community spirit is a great thing to see. If you get lemons sent your way, make lemonade...
Love to see people in groups after this and they all look like they are having a good time. Sometimes it take's nature to bring folks together!
amateur cutter mentioned one of the big snows in MI. The years I remember for big ones are 1967-1971 and 1978. The biggest one I remember is 33". I also remember one time I had to go out a window because the snow was above the door! I also remember the Soo getting over 100" in a weekend. Someone asked about moving the snow. Big payloaders and big graders for sure. Lots of trucks to haul snow out of the cities. Lots of time is needed. Most folks get through these things good but you have to feel for those who lose power, the sick, elderly and pregnant women. Also hospitals have problems getting help. Fires? Big problem.
You are correct Dennis, it was 1978, not'77. We got lake effect here for a few days after the storm passed. I remember a local weatherman measuring an 18' bank along the main road after it had been cleared. It was fun when I was a kid, now, I'll pass.
These incredible snow pics make me wonder where in the world will folks put any more snow they get during the rest of the winter. Got a ways to go... wow.
Crazy pics. I too like the pic of everyone gathered around the fire. A lot of them are smiling, so there’s that.
