I was in the Mart of Wallace in Muncie getting a vacuum cleaner belt and some carpet deodorizer (because no one in Menards had time for me, except the electrical guy) and it was MONSOONING out there!
I drove out of it coming home, so I'm expecting to be hit again any minute now.

All the adjusters said it was a Tornado but the weather service said no. They said it was a tornado 15 miles down path. Makes no sense to me.

Yea, they don't know. All these highly scientific ways to give wrong info. You were there, period, nuff said!

I've been within a few hundred yards of a tornado twice while at our families place in PA and also cleaned up after one here at home a few years back. Just incredible and scary!
It was like a perfect measured swath of total destruction.o_O

My sisters house got hit by a tornado about 25 years ago. Took the whole roof off a 2 story brick home and we built the house originally. 2x6 sidewalls and built like a tank. We went up to clean up and it pulled the neighbors barn roof off and drove the trusses into the ground next to my sisters house. They lived on the Indiana, Ohio, Michigan boarder and soil is somewhat sandy. When they brought a backhoe out to pull the trusses out of the ground it was 5 FOOT deep into the soil. 12 trusses in a row, 5 FOOT deep!

All kinds of weird stuff happened. No one had walked the surrounding ground and we headed out to collect stuff. A 1/2 mile from the house we found my great grandmothers glass dish that was in the attic sitting upright with the unattached lid sitting on it without a chip anywhere on it. Just sitting there in perfect condition. The other wild one was a neighbor had their whole roof pushed about 12 inches off square. They then realized it had been picked up and spun 180 degrees and put back down.

Mom n Dad had real high winds one day a few years back. They found out later some of the rafters in the attic (old farm house with rough cut lumber framing) had been snapped in the middle. Some were broke "down", some were broke "up", the weather service said it was just straight line winds...but I dunno how regular straight line winds can break rafters in different directions...

Thanks for the warning! Looks like just a
Ah yes, the "El derecho" storm. Fun stuff. 11 days without power. Have spent last 6 years dealing with the mess that one left behind in the woods.

Some of the destruction on the river lot.

It got pretty warm that week. Sure did miss that air conditioning! Picture is in my living room. Stayed this hot until about 3 hours after the sun went down.

I was sitting here reading this and noticed that my jaw actually dropped in reaction.
And I thought that I had been through some pretty good storms.
