We lost about 4-6 Hemlocks with about 2 White Pine from the last wind event we had, we also lost some Maples. Picture 1379 is a small American Hophornbeam, 1380 is a Hemlock and 81 the top across the trail, 1382,83,84,85 and 86 are all Maples with one being a Sugar.
Yes, it's time I fill the stacks up again. Since EAB is just north of us or here already, we want to fell some Ash on the back hill pretty soon.
With the acreage you have, you'll always be hoarding the blowdowns and dead trees. That's a good thing!
Those moss covered trees.........did you place them there to prevent hillside erosion?? Very effective.
I hope so Horkn . yooperdave , those downed moss covered trees are some Basswood that came down years ago in a bad wind. They do help stop the erosion.
The wind just took the rest of this damaged pine in picture 1326 down and back into the woods, it was leaning toward the backyard. Picture 1339 was the first part of the same tree that came down in the last windstorm. Just more pine for the stacks.
This was the pine that was damaged and then in the last windstorm it saved me some work by felling it back into the woods. I'll get the rest cleared when I'm done with the garage clearing and cleanup.
Not like you had anything else to do, right? At least it sounds like they fell/broke in an opportune manner.

It wouldn't bother me yooperdave , we have a very steep hill we could put you on or if you like some cold mountain water we'll put your azz in the brook.
As I drive all around the Copper Basin( area about the size of Ohio where I live) I'm seeing LOTS and Lots of widow makers hanging. From storms in December and January. Most people here cut their firewood on state or corporation ( native owned) land. Most people here that do cut their own wood . Aren't much as far as knowledge or safety. And almost all of them don't wear hardhats or know enough to Look Up. I'm thinking that injuries are going to increase dramatically. Safety is a serious concern. Something to be kept in the forefront of the mind.
