Yeah Gas, the snow haters, don't get me started, the Mall will still be there in a day or so. Take Mother nature's clue and take the day off, help (shovel) and meet some of your neighbors and enjoy the wonderful beauty.
We didn't have hills. We farmed on the side of mountains. They were almost straight up I tells ya! You really needed to watch it when those cows were goin ..........
Awe come on mountain man were not more than 250 miles apart.. no my 70 year old neighbor comes over to help to build castle part 8 feet tall and off ramparts of castle is start of the luge.. we bank sides pretty good and ummm.. the old fat guys go first.. then build sides higher.. 200 yards long works best with blow up tubes.. build it every year we get a good wet noreaster.. generally get 20 plus kids from town.. if warmer (read above 20) been known to pull contractor lights and have midnight sledding parties. with bunch of kids pull old sled out and give them rides back up hill.. 3-5 year Olds, get tired If ya live in the frozen north yards gotta enjoy it Generally hot cocoa and hot dogs for kids.. and for adults .. 1 designated driver for the occasional broken wrist or whatever I can't be only one that builds snowmen puts food coloring in snow for polka dots... green blue and red works best... or I could be just a little
Honestly I love the snow but unfortunately my part of my job is snow removal. That means hrs on end with some of these big storms. Yea the money is good but I'd much rather be home with the family enjoying the snow. I always worry about the mrs and baby while im plowing in throughout the storm. That's why I try to have everything in order before i get the call. Today I filled the wood bin in the shed near the house, brought the genny up and got it ready to go, picked up 10gal of gas and 5 of diesel for the tractor. Tomorrow I'll bring a few days worth in the basement and that should be it.
I don't know about a blizzard but we could get 60 mph gusts over the weekend. I fully expect to be without power for awhile and I'm fine with that. Got enough food beer and wood in the house to last for a long time. The only concern if the power goes out is food, and I can set that on the porch. Kids, wife and I can play games, play in the snow, read books, all the things people used to do before the Internet. As for the saw, that can wait for me. I'm not running a saw in 3 feet of snow unless I have to!
Yes, I have heard about that, they breed cattle with legs longer on one side so they can stand upright on the slopes.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to do that and would be right there with ya, but there are no kids here to do that and get into it. Just little ol' me. By the time I work a 12 hour shift and come home and snowblow the driveway, the trails to wood piles and the elderly couples driveway across the road. Then I do the trails to the upper and lower garage, the barn down back, do out front for the mailman to swing in to the box, 50 feet. Then I gotta rake the roof over the stove. Hell, I'm beat just typing all this! And a lot of these are ocean storms of two feet plus. I'm spent. And I gotta get up again at 4 AM. And as you know if you don't keep all trails open all winter, you can't re-open them. I do all the playing up to camp though, cause there's a bunch of us, and we do all gooder stuff you mentioned up there. Good post CB Vt, we enjoy the same things, I love winter.
Just depends if the Globe warms up a day or two afterwards, or stays winteryish longer. No snow stays long like growing up on Long Island in the '70-80's.... Except at Wally World, the snow plowed piles can last a month- when we get enough snow to amount to anything.
