Depends where this thing tracks after it stalls in the mid atlantic....... forecasters saying a slight nw track east of jersey, Connecticut will get hit likely with wind/rain.......
Forescasters around here are for sure upselling this hurricane but honestly ya just never know. We lost power for 3 days when sandy hit and for almost 5 when a nasty dericho came through a few summers ago. People were definitely caught with there pants down. Got my generator set in its spot last night and gave it a whole house test run again to make sure things were right. I always have 10 gal or so of gas around anyways so were pretty set. We've got a party at my SIL's this afternoon so i didn't want to be scrambling around later if the storm does intesify.
Good to be prepared....... ya never know, its likely to stall over that warm water and may intensify a bit. Enjoy the party, make sure babypiney eats good!
Well, woke at about 0600 and it was breezy, 0800 now, wind has picked up to about 25mph. Just tucked the trash cans away, sky blackish in the South. Looks like she's headed our way.
Yup, me too! But, my "opinion", I don't think it's gonna be much and it's moving at a normal clip so I'm not to concerned. My USCG/NOAA info track has it moving past tonight and clearing into tomorrow.
It looks like it may reach hurricane status again very early tuesday morning, with the core just off central Jersey......this seems crazy to me, how long could it possibly stall?
Yup, did that last night! Last little blow we had, the neighbors lawn furniture was in our yard from two houses down! The plastic stuff really flies!
Iv'e seen nor-easters sit for two and three days sooooooo….. It just means more trees down and longer power outages! I have enough gas for about three days or so.
I may go get 5 gallons more gas. My welder/generator runs 16hrs on a tank, 6-1/2 gallons which is real good. I power the house easy with the exception of the water heater, it pulls 4500 watts itself.
This is my personal small one, this does the whole house.Hobart Welders - Products - Welder/Generator - Champion 145
Yea, I went and got more. I got 3@5gal and a 2gal we have for the mowers, I'm good! Really not worried about it anyway but my biggest concern is the trees! The more trees down the longer were out of power. Atlantic city electric is usually "REAL" good about getting it back here, although we've been three days in the past.
Always better to be ready than wish you had. I have 3, 5 gal cans, I keep 10 gallons here for the generator and I put fuel stabilizer in it then rotate it with the other one that is for the mower so I always have gas on the fresh side just in case. I also start my generator several times a year and plug some stuff in to give it some draw.
