I apologize to you too. There is a lot of humor here and I guess I get carried away.

Must have... I don't read any "papers". ;). Funny thing is, I wear slippers about 1 day a year, and I just happened to be wearing them right now when reading that post. Even more amazing is the fact I have black socks on. I don't think I have ever worn that combo EVER before. Talk about coincidence.

Now for sure, Nicolas will be confused!

Now to get really technical, what method of starting are you using? Woodheat.org. has a few good ideas on that, some here also if you dig a little. I like the "Top Down" approach but with average wood the "Tunnel of Love". Might be better... maybe take a pic just before you set a match to it tonight.....

I use the little tiny starter bricks not the huge duraflames their mini little bricks like 4 inches big...light that and put the wood on top once it catches

If your not familiar with these methods just say so with an @ bobdog2o02 with no space in it and I'd be happy to build both and take pics to post, I'll be lighting up in a few hours anyway as our house temp drops after dark here.

Bte, are you in bucks county pa?

Doesn't really matter for all intent and purpose, except that the fireplace chimney is WAY more ptone to a chimney fire than a wood stove with a lined chumney.... which makes it even more important to make sure you have good wood.
