Didn't know that, but I don't know a lot about things that go on with young people today. Don't care much about it either. Cept that I don't want them walking about being indecent. Keep that stuff to home.

When I go to the local Sheetz for libations after a sweaty, sawdust covered day of cutting, the staff peeps ask, "been cutting firewood today?" The out of towners are so focused on their travels they don't even notice- they even say "thank you" when holding the door open for them! Regardless of my appearance.....
But I live in a small town, lots of farmers, hunters, rednecks... So I seem to fit right in! Fine by me!

I saw a report about this recently. We've had this look for years. But back then I guess it wasn't cool

I've never tried to be "in style"
    I like comfortable.

Late 1990's, dear husband wore an unusual sized dress shirt, one store in town he liked, and paid alot per shirt (they looked and fit well on him). He showed up there on a Saturday after working in the yard and going to the landfill and was snubbed though he was waited on hand and foot while in business attire previously.

I hauled a desktop cpu into a computer repair shop in business clothing, all gussied up...... Met at the doors by staff, they carried my heavy computer for me............ Came in that weekend in comfy clothes to pick it up. I was NOT gussied up, took me several requests to get any of the staff there to interrupt their conversations, then another long wait to retrieve my repaired computer :headbang:

I also found while walking between store parking lots and entrances that cars would stop for me when looking nice, but that I need to look both ways twice before crossing while in comfy clothes.

:bug: The latest selfie from my 75 y/o father, he is growing a beard for the first time in his life. OMG!

(and yes, he had a great moustache in the 70's, but no beard)

I get "the look" pretty often because I am usually pretty dirty and sweaty when working in the woods and go for a caffeine/snack break. I'm sure the chicks are just checking me out though. Not so sure when I get the "step further away" though. Do you think it's the Gasifier aroma? Or?

This thread reminded me of my days back in college. A buddy and me used to work on our trucks together all the time. We even did an engineering design project for school together. Anyway, after hours of working in the garage on our various projects, we’d break for lunch or dinner. His mom would stop us at the garage door, take one look at me, then at her son, and ask him why he always made me do all the work and that I needed to change clothes and wash up before coming inside but he could go on in. The funny thing we were always working side by side the entire time, but my jeans and shirt would be absolutely covered in grease, rust, oil and dirt. He on the other hand, might have a smudge of grease on his cheek and the rest of him looked like he just put on clean clothes. I guess some of us just naturally attract dirt?!

I'm the same way. The funny thing is I HATE getting dirty. My mom said at my 1st birthday I wanted to use a spoon to eat my cake, I wasn't that kid that just dug in with my hands and I started using silverware as soon as I could. Even now, I like to wear latex gloves under my mechanics gloves when working on a car. But somehow I still end up looking like I rolled in oil.

I can be working with a bunch of guys, just as hard or harder than they are, and they'll have sweat through their shirts and I'll barely have a bead on my forehead. If you were just looking at me you'd think I wasn't working at all. When I was working landscaping it took my boss a while to figure that out...he thought I was lazy. He eventually figured it out.

Yeah, not much point when it changes every time you turn around.
Makes me laugh at the inanity of it.
