What happened for me was I've been a member since before the fav wood question was implemented. I just had to fill out the required fields and "catch up", then no trouble at all.

I gotta agree. Too much stuff upon login. I still get the 2 little ones at the bottom also. Quite annoying.

Btw, favorite is spelled wrong on this new popup.....twice.

  Is it really now? ;)

Either spelling is correct, just that favorite is most common on this side of the Atlantic.

Those 2 little pop ups disappear as soon as i log in, and even if they did not you can just hit the little x and they go away
Its not like they are pop ups that are trying to sell you something from some other site or web page from the internet, they are just directing you to other areas of FHC so they are not that big of a deal IMO

That's the thing-- they are dismissable. Click the X and they are gone. They replaced the old ugly nofitications that we had at the top of the screen that nobody ever seemed to notice, which defeats the purpose of having a notice. I think XenForo did right by changing this.

hold your courser over your user name on the top right of screen, brings up a list of options to click on including a log out option

I have a habit of logging out of everything that requires a log in when I am done. Just the way I was taught. Forums, paypal, email, ebay, etc

The way I see it, if it's not tied to my bank account I don't need to log out.

Because most people don't care about ads. Most people go to a forum for a forum. I am on two stove forums. Neither has this extra stuff. I didn't even get it back at the "other" place.

When we are trying to promote things like members get togethers, secret santa, or let users know when there is a scheduled outage it is nice if its in a place they will actually see it. If you don't like them, click the X and they are gone as long as you are logged in.
