despite that it looks like the top is straddling that tree, I'd put a rope on the snapped end and pull it by hand. Doesn't look like it is holding by much. I've been pulling pines down for the last several weeks Now I have to winch them up a hill.
It would be nice if the wind brought this birch down, I'll be checking it tomorrow after the wind backs off.
We never got the high winds here. However, we were out of power for around 7 hours this morning. Not sure what happened other than we had rain and some wind then the power went out. No doubt some distance from here had more wind and something fell on a line. But, we have power again and all is well.
We had sustained winds all day of 37 mph with gust close to 60, we're still getting the strong gusty winds. I'll be careful, I'm sure certain areas are a wreck.
Since we only lost power for a few seconds, we'll end up losing it right before we start cooking supper.
Seems like I saw a couple of videos where you just use a ladder to cut it loose, or was that you straddled the horizontal part of the tree then reached out, cut it off, & enjoy the ride down. Ha Ha Ha! Really, I am blessed with a full sized 70 hp tractor with loader, forks, & grapple. I could have that down safely in a heartbeat.
