Chisel doesn't do it for me in the wood I cut. Mostly dead Oak. Semi stays sharp much longer. BPX semi chisel cuts faster than RM for me. I do like LGX & LPX, but use it only in clean green wood & at the chainsaw races. I'll likely never buy another Stihl chain...

If round-ground chisel only cuts 10% faster than round-ground semi-chisel, and it dulls in dirty conditions in half the time, it seems like a no brainer to use semi-chisel.

I've been fooling around a lot with full chisel and spending equal time on my sharpener grinder. I'd rather make the cutting sessions last longer, so I'm going to order some semi.

Semi stays sharper a good 50% longer that chisel for me. After I file semi once it's very hard to tell the
difference in speed between the two. I use semi most of the time...

Thanks guys... that explains a lot! My 362 has RS chain on it, and I've noticed it seems to need sharpening every time I use it, and I mean just making a few cuts. My Echo 400's chain is a Stihl chain (don't remember exactly what type of chain it is, will have to take a shot for you guys to tell me), and it seems to last a much longer time. I bet it's a RM... just a guess though.

I'm betting that CS400 is running a PM chain, which is similar to RM, just smaller. It is also excellent chain for everyday work.

I run RS on the bigger saws. I don't have problems with it dulling.

I have a loop of RM for the 024 super. I ran a gallon of gas through the saw and the chain was still cutting good.

I run Oregon as I find that it's half the price of stihl chain and almost as good. I get new chain twice as often, and to me that is worth more than having a high end chain.

Almost as good? I really do like Oregon better & I have run a bunch of Stihl chain over the last 3 decades or so.

I find that Oregon chain is too soft. I have a few Oregon loops around, but I mainly use either Stihl or Carlton (rebranded as WoodlandPro) loops on my saws.

I have used both. RS is nice but I get the trucks loaded faster using RM. If I have to stop and sharpen or change a chain, the little bit faster that RS is becomes irrelevant.

I use RM in wood that's got a lot of dirt . I used to use RS and liked it a lot . It holds up well . Can't say I like the price though . :) Got a Simington and most of the RS ,and LGX ,and RC turned to square ground . Cuts quicker ,smoother ,and lasts at least as long as round ground . YMMV depending on how you shape your wheels and set up the grinder .
