For that I would vote Echo 490 with an 18” bar and canned fuel. $100 more than the $200 budget but would serve you well. Stihl pro saws are nice but will needlessly triple your budget. It would help a lot if you got the model number of the saw you borrowed then you will know the size engine. Good luck with your new purchase.
I'm starting to lean towards battery power for "every now & then" usage. Saws that sit too much have fuel problems. Of course...how long the batteries live without regular charge/drain cycles is a factor to be considered. They tend to be quite expensive.
