That's weird because you are mounting your chain catch in a 2nd hole that I don't have on the 500i in my garage. My chain catch is mounted on the bolt for the spike. You sure that's the 500i??

I think your last pic is the 500i. I can see the anti-vibe spring on both your 3rd pic and my pics up top.

You can also see the 2 screw holes in both your 3rd pic and my pic.

I received a MS660 chain catch today and just figured I'd snap a pic to show the difference between that and the one for the MS500i.

    MS660 on top.
    MS500 on the bottom.

Tune up. I can't believe I had to spend 5 minutes on each air filter (2 saws) with a nylon brush because of how much crud was stuck in there.

First saw's spark plug had a tip that was almost gone so a big gap. Clutch area was totally dirty too, caked up all around the worm gear and oil pump, brake band, and also cleaned the chain brake area was caked with sawdust and oil. Dressed the bar, cleaned.....

I'd drill the dogs and put the ceramic roller in there if it was me. Way better setup and doesn't usually trash the teeth if you throw a chain.

Yep this! Pick a spot on the dogs that will clearance the chain. Remove both dogs and drill a hole roughly the same size as the roller chain catcher. Voilà, you now have a chain catcher that will not bugger your chain…

For example: Stihl style roller chain catch on a dolmar 7900
