Stihl MS241 build

    Now, there is a noticable weight difference between these saws that the bar and chain differences doesn't explain. I've heard the earlier 241s were heavier than the later. The black unit is older than the XS saw. I weighed these with both tanks full on each. The XS even had some west coast dogs that probably add an ounce or two over stock. I didn't go as far as removing them to compare. Lol. Anyway, the weights.

    Both saws have aftermarket air filters. One oiled foam, the other dry. Both have the same outerwear pre filters. The foam unit would stick out about the same if I cut a hole in the hood. The old saw has original dogs.

    That scale weighs in pounds and 1/10 of a pound increments, not pounds / ounces.

    The only differences I've seen between these saws are different coils and carburetors. Different part numbers on the flywheels but they look the same. That's it.
