Does a four mix get any benefit from a muffler mod? I'm inclined to say no because I would think they'd have less exhaust to.....exhaust. not sure though, that's why I'm asking.

Are the cam and crank one part?

Cam and crank can't be one part. ;). Cam is gear driven off the crank, one lobe runs both valves. I'm sure it would benefit a bit from less exhaust restriction (pull the screen?) but I've never had one that felt choked up. Mufflers are less restrictive on these to begin with because they are not using them to control emissions like they do on some two-strokes.

They DO almost sound like they have a miss in them, that's just the nature of the machine from what I've found in my research. My dad has a KM 130 and I have two KM56's. His is the 4 hybrid while mine are both just two cycles.

Between the two of us we have almost every attachment......blower, two tillers, polesaw, adjustable hedge trimmers, power broom (rubber paddles), string trimmer.....I have enough extensions to get me out to almost 20' too!

They are awesome machines for sure.

Heck, if it's 139 hours, I have a ways to go then... :)

It just seems to stutter off idle when you blip the throttle. But that's only when it's cold. Didn't do it when it was new. Once warm, it's a scolded dog to run!! :dex:

Got a br600 blower which dropped a valve. They are prone to carbon buildup. Rebuilt the thing and adjusted valves. Keep an eye on the valves as they r easy to adjust and check and if they get loose u can loose compression. The cam follower on these 4 mix engines r plastic and if it wears it will get all funky on the the timing

I'd check the lash on a new unit that has it's first season on it no matter the hours. I do the ones at work once a year and have no idea how many hours they have. :)

I should say I don't think it's a bad idea to check valve lash as often as you feel necessary. I'm gonna let mine run a couple more years so long as it's easy to start and runs well. Hard starting(actually being hard to pull over) is a sign of valves being out of spec.

One of the main things is to keep an eye on the oil seals also! Ive seen the seals leak on several 4 mixers
