I did see that , I thought about doing some work to it but for what I am doing with it I figured just leave it be.
For what is designed to do it is fine with me.

Yep. He killed it. Trusted his brother's premix and it has massive piston damage. I didn't pull the muffler, but that's what the Stihl tech did. I hope he learned a lesson. I told him to buy a pro saw, and he bought a clamshell.

Hopefully he buys a ms 362 or 400 next just so he has enough for stump work. Some of those stumps will require a 24” bar at least and I bet he runs his own mix to be sure next time.

I just got the new motor installed and got the saw mostly back together. Tomorrow I'll take it in and show it to my buddy the Stihl mechanic at Coast to Coast Hardware, and we'll start it up. The cover I spoke of, that came unglued... I got a closer look at it on this new motor. It looks like Stihl uses an adhesive gasket to attach the cover to the cylinder. They don't appear to offer that gasket as an available part. But maybe they do, and we just can't find it. Are there any Stihl dealers here who have better information? If so, please post.

JB Weld typically melts at 250F. It’s used often as a bedding compound to glue rifle actions into a stock. Most bedding jobs are done to be removed but on some target rifles they are glued right in with no screws to affect accuracy. To remove a glued in action you use an older clothes iron on top of the action for a few minutes. They’ll pop right out.
They also have high temp formulations. I’ve never seen it in a store yet but they have them.

last time I looked on their website they had the original JB Weld listed as 500F melting point. I think they messed up their website.
