Agree but that's a narrow segment. (I did not specify changsaws) Don't forget about Appliances, Tools, Furniture, Lawn mowers, Footwear, Firearms, Electrical fixtures, Lumber, etc etc etc etc.

Unfortunately I talked to some people I know at Stihl and they n wouldn’t cover a 271 that blew for this very reason. It was 5-6 years old and even though it failed because of it they wouldn’t. They did update to newer style block to fix the issue but that still doesn’t take care of the old ones out there.

Plastic bearings in 5 series Husqvarnas...

I'm sure that won't be the final chapter for either one of them. The way things are getting done it's just a matter of time.

Lol. Oh I'm sure. Just look at that new Stihl 162. 2cc larger than the 170 its replacing and less power. It looks pathetic in the YouTube vids. Hopefully it comes around after being broken in for those that buy one. And its over 9 pounds. The Echo cs310 is a much nicer saw than the 170 and now its in a different league vs the ms162. I've owned both the cs310 and 170.

I'll stop using the winter shutter position and see how the saw runs.

Interesting. A coworker started a side business of a stump grinding operation after work and on weekends. He bought a new MS251 c-be to cut stumps lower on jobs that require it. Well about 1 hour after using the saw on its side to lower a stump, it wouldn't restart afterwards. He brought it to work. I couldn't get it to run. It pulls over fine, and it does spark, but not as bright of a spark as I'm used to. I think the spark is weak. It's currently at the dealer.

Before he even bought a saw, I told him about him needing a lot bigger saw than he thought. Stumping is hard work on a saw. That's a residential use saw too. I told him that he needs at least a 50 CC pro saw, but he didn't listen to me.

Surely you could find some swedish brand's flaws too, but yeah, that'll require a new thread as it will go over the data allowance.

I really like my ms170. It's nice and light. The dollar to fun ratio on it is really nice, especially with mine.

I liked mine as well but the Echo has an adjustable carburetor, better air filter, spring antivibe and more power. Both muffler modded.

I have an MS170 that I bought when Mom and Dad lived on the Cape and it lived there until they moved out .
That little thing gets quite a bit of use around the sawmill cutting up slab wood and such.
I can't knock it for what it is,

I ported mine and added a Velocity stack and clamp on filter. Actually you probably saw pics of it in the oil thread. Amateur cutter bought it for his friend Patty.
