This is why I would avoid the weld repair unless absolutely necessary. There is so much to consider, and let's not forget that these cylinders have coatings that all this heating beyond operational temps could affect. If you can, pull the helicoil, do the insert and call it done. There is no shame in not going the weld route.

Scotty Overkill, I saw your post in my thread on this type of repair. Sorry he botched it for you. I thought he had a wire coil type repair in it. Good luck with the weld, just keep in mind you most likely will need to do a little machine work to ensure the plug hole is at the correct angle and the sealing surface is good 'nuff.

My Syncro wave 351 was $3000 when we bought it. The "BEST" machine to this day for Tig in my opinion is the Miller 330 A-BP, I Love that machine. That was the only machine I did injectors with and never had one flaw! But you really don't need a square wave unless your doing pulse Tig, and even then I did it way before that came around.

Lol I was wondering that too for a bit. I think it's a reference to cheap aluminum being used in the cylinders. As in melted down Coca-Cola cans.

Many years back when "Heli-arc" or Tig as we know it today refer to people who could weld Coca-cola cans together, :picard: "now" that was back when cans were steel. Some of you folks remember that others don't! Who remembers a church key?…. Anyway, when they started making cans out of aluminum, "originally" they were a good grade of aluminum, then they went to S#!T so… people tried and failed to weld two cans together. Now, "again" thats only "one" explanation for the verbiage, and the one that I know.

For the record, yes, I have welded two Bud, Coors, Pepsi, Coke, Miller lite, coffee cans, Campbell's soup cans and even two glass bottles together! Don't ask why… ;) Lets just say, all of the last in the sentence had something to do with it! :picard:

Why you believe that the stihl- husqvarna - dolmar and many other use the top grade aluminum or the top grade plastics and materials ? or you believe that they spent millions for

We should see the Dynasty 200's come to the used market a little more frequently now that the 210 is out. They are a fantastic "little" all-purpose TIG box. I wouldn't mind having one of those in my shop for sure.

Nope on the contrary just a little lost in the translation is all brother. I'm sure they all use whatever looks best in their cost benifit analysis.

before some months the stihl upload a video that show the all procedure of making a saw from the designers table to the packaging , if someone have a good eye and have a little knowledge of materials he can notice what a f@ck they do.
Of course they take this video back after a few days , for what reason ????
